(LOS ANGELES, California -- November 6, 2006) -- Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) today announced that its subsidiary, Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc., has been awarded a $47 million extension of its Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) contract from The Boeing Company.
Originally awarded in 1998, the extension adds 15 months to the current contract, continuing it through December 2008.
Under the contract extension, Teledyne Brown will continue to perform system engineering and integration support, provide system test planning, design, execution, data retrieval, and analysis support for flight testing, hardware in the loop ground testing and distributed testing of the deployed GMD System. Additionally, Teledyne Brown will provide engineering support for the Ground-based Interceptor and Ground Fire Control, as well as facilities engineering and logistics operations support to the deployed GMD System.
"This award is a significant accomplishment for Teledyne Brown," said Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Teledyne Technologies. "It allows the company to continue providing excellent support to Boeing on the GMD program while providing an opportunity to expand the company's existing facilities engineering, siting and environmental support to plan for additional GMD sites. It also helps Teledyne Brown extend its experience as a premier system-of-systems tester in the strategic missile arena."
