(Beijing, 23 November 2006) -- On Nov. 22nd, 2006, Ameco Beijing signed a Letter of Intent with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) to carry out D-Checks on up to three Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft for Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DLH) annually during the winter programme.
Mr. Meisel, SVP Aircraft Overhaul of LHT, said, "There'll be a heavy maintenance peak from now on for DLH's Boeing 747 fleet. Ameco Beijing is not only an aircraft overhaul provider for LHT, but also an important part of LHT's integrated network. "
Deutsche Lufthansa AG has a fleet of 30ea B747-400, which LHT is contracted to offer heavy maintenance services for. Mr. Meisel, who will become General Manager of Ameco Beijing in January 2007, expressed his confidence that Ameco is capable to complete this project with high quality results.
Currently, LHT and Ameco Beijing are establishing a joint preparation programme to nurture on the experience gained during the B777 programme of United Airlines (UA) to the B747-programme of DLH. After some thirty heavy maintenance visits of UA in 2006, Dr. Hans Schmitz, General Manager of Ameco Beijing, is absolutely positive that the high quality and reliability achieved in the this programme can be transferred to the DLH-aircraft too.
