Patria has today received an order for modernisation of 30 Hawk jet trainers and one simulator from the Finnish Air Force. The total value of the entire project is approximately 20 million euros. The modifications will be done during 2007 - 2010.
The upgrade aims to further increase the quality of flight training by creating the Hawks' mission planning, recording and debriefing capabilities. Additionally cockpits of 15 Hawks will be modernised to better meet the requirements of a modern cockpit. These modernisations improve Hawk jet trainers' training efficiency and enable their use in certain training purposes in which Hornet interceptors now have been used.
"This order further strengthens the partnership between the Finnish Air Force (FiAF) and Patria. In addition to the development of the domestic fighter training the Hawk modernisation improves Patria's and FiAF's joint efforts to offer training services for foreign customers", states Mr Jukka Holkeri, Executive Vice President from Patria Group.
Patria has assembled a large part of the FiAF's 49 Hawk trainers in 1980 - 1985. Patria has also maintained the Hawks all their life-span as well as performed significant modification projects.
