(Melbourne, Fla., June 21, 2007) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a contract modification by the U.S. Air Force for the Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) mission execution program. The contract covers a seamless continuation of the BMC2 risk reduction efforts for an additional 12 month period and will be completed May 2008.
Under this $12.2 million contract, the company will continue to develop products related to BMC2 capabilities and technologies and provide technical support relative to BMC2 for other government-conducted analysis.
"This contract extension allows us to maintain program continuity while future funding decisions are being made," said Dave Nagy, vice president of Northrop Grumman's Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) Programs. "The Air Force vision for this next-generation BMC2 capability is to tailor it for use in multiple nodes within the command and control environment."
"Not only will this approach save money over the long term, but it will also promote much better interoperability across the joint ISR architecture and provide front-line commanders with the latest in decision-making technology. It is an important element in the evolution of technology for ISR programs," said Nagy.
