(Alexandria, VA., July 26, 2007) -- Las Vegas McCarran International Airport has selected Era's MSS multilateration system to provide real-time, accurate flight arrival and tracking information for the airport's Flight Information Display System (FIDS). McCarran International Airport is the fifth busiest airport in the United States and is ranked first in customer satisfaction according to JD Power and Associates.
In order to provide its passengers with the highest quality flight information services, McCarran International Airport developed its own FIDS system. While successful, the flight information sources were delayed, therefore eliminating large elements of accuracy. Airport officials looked to outside vendors to find the best solution for receiving real-time, accurate flight track information. After a competitive procurement process, Era's multilateration flight tracking technology was chosen.
Era's multilateration system, MSS, provides highly accurate gate-to-gate surveillance and flight track information and has recently been selected by a number of airports, including JFK and Houston, to aid in various airport operation functions.
"Era's ATC quality multilateration technology is designed so it can be extended to support all airport operations functions ranging from billing to noise monitoring to a FIDS data feed," said Bill Colligan, Era's VP and General Manager, Airport Operations Solutions. "We are pleased to be taking a role in making McCarran Airport's FIDS system the most accurate and technologically advanced system in the industry."
