Embraer and Egyptair Reinforce Parts Support Agreement
After one year of operation supported by the Embraer Pool Program, EgyptAir focuses now on developing in-house component repair capabilities
(Sao Jose dos Campos, July 18, 2008) -- Embraer reinforced its partnership with EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering by signing an agreement for in-house parts repair capabilities. EgyptAir will be able to repair Embraer components at its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) center. One year ago, Embraer and EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering signed a long-term Parts Pool Program services contract for the support of the six EMBRAER 170 jets operated by EgyptAir Express.
"It's a great honor for us to strengthen our links with EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering, which is one of the most respected MRO parts providers in the Middle East", said Leandro Laia, Embraer Vice President, Customer Support and Services - Europe, Africa and Middle East.
In May 2007, the first EMBRAER 170 was delivered to EgyptAir's subsidiary, EgyptAir Express. The airline selected the E-Jets family in September 2006 by placing an order for six aircraft, plus six options, the latter being confirmed last February. EgyptAir Express currently operates six EJets, serving primary and secondary destinations in domestic and regional markets.
"We are very pleased by Embraer's recognition and its trust in our maintenance capabilities, which gives us a leading position at a time when the E-Jets family is enjoying such tremendous success in the Middle East and Africa," said Abdel Aziz Fadel, CEO of EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering.
