(Brighton, UK., October 1, 2008) -- ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) under a $1.5 million contract with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organization, has completed delivery of 50 new-generation "MALTS" two-station practice bomb carriers together with a support and training package, for use on Royal Norwegian Air Force F-16s.
The MALTS (Modular Advanced Lightweight Training System), is a family of two, four, and six station carriers developed by ITT and is in-service with two additional European Air Force customers.
The MALTS employs easily maintained electro-magnetic release units that significantly reduce the maintenance and overall life- cycle costs when compared with pyrotechnic systems.
"ITT is the industry leader in sophisticated aircraft-armament interface, carriage and release systems," said President-ITT Integrated Structures, James Barber. "ITT has provided such equipment for the world's dominant jet fighters including the F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22, Typhoon, Tornado and Harrier. We are also developing the aircraft-armament system for the next-generation, supersonic stealth fighter, F-35 Lightning II."
